A simple, economical, and reliable UV spectrophotometric method based on the simultaneous equation approach was developed for the quantitative estimation of mometasone furoate (MOM) and olopatadine hydrochloride (OLO) in combined dosage form. The method utilizes absorbance measurements at 248 nm and 301.6 nm, corresponding to the respective absorption maxima of the two drugs within the 200–400 nm range.
Linearity was established over concentration ranges of 2–12 µg/ml for MOM and 20–120 µg/ml for OLO, with correlation coefficients close to unity. The method was validated according to ICH Q2(R1) guidelines for parameters including linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection (LOD), and limit of quantification (LOQ). The recovery studies demonstrated high accuracy with low %RSD values, confirming the precision and reproducibility of the method.
The validated method proved to be sensitive, accurate, and suitable for routine analysis of MOM and OLO in combined pharmaceutical formulations without the need for sophisticated instrumentation, making it a cost-effective alternative for quality control laboratories.
