Abstract

Generally, we mean ‘Perception’ as an act of interpreting a selected stimulus out of many registered in the brain by using a sense or an entire sense mechanism. A stimulus is any kind of mechanical, physical or chemical change that happens upon a sense organ. The act of perception goes through a process, which similarly happens during any act of communication. The process is something that once begins and never ends. Like this, an act of perception also starts at one point, and passes through a path of environmental or physiological channels until a receiver/respondent starts selection, organization and interpretation of that stimulus to formulate a meaningful message and subsequently go for appropriate action or reaction. S/he ultimately gives a judgment of that selected stimulus based on their experience and intuition of finding similarity with other stimuli on what they reacted upon. As a whole, an act of perception is nothing but a capacity of understanding, which someone has to earn through continuous practice. Accordingly, this article delves into the subject matter for understanding the insight and process of perception from the perspective of creative publication and activities.
